The original Inventor Underground podcast

A voice for the inventors beyond the television spotlight. Inventor Underground’s podcast accompanied the independent community that gathered around invention television in 2006.

For the other 10,000 inventors

The original podcast introduction set out a simple idea: television programmes could feature only a handful of inventions, while thousands of people were still developing prototypes, sharing ideas and looking for an audience.

Inventor Underground followed that wider community, including people drawn to American Inventor, Modern Marvels, The Million Dollar Idea and Made in the USA. The podcast was one part of a site that also brought together inventor profiles, personal accounts and discussions.

The network shows are interested in top 10 winning inventions, InventorUnderground is interested in the 10,000 who were left behind.

Inside the series

The later programme listings describe interviews with judges Doug Hall and Mary Lou Quinlan, a talk-show review with calls from inventors, and a video feature about Woody Norris. The written programme guide brings these references together.

A community beyond the show

The same ambition runs through the inventor gallery: give people space to describe what they were building in their own words. For a closer look at that process, read the invention stories and advice from inventors.
