The 2006 Inventor Underground award
An early community award proposed by Inventor Underground to recognise an invention from its directory.
The original proposal
The February 2006 announcement listed a $500 cash award. Entries were due by February 28, with a selection planned for March. The announcement described a vote by the inventors registered in the directory.
What entrants were asked to provide
The proposal called for a completed application and a website showing the invention. It limited eligibility to residents of the United States and its territories, and asked that entries be suitable for a family audience.
The announcement also described requirements connected with further product development and excluded people related to the owners or sponsors of the site.
The ideas behind the announcement
The award grew from the same aim as the directory: give independent inventors a place to show work that might never appear on television. Explore the invention gallery and development stories to meet the community.
This page documents the 2006 announcement. It is not an open competition.
