This is why I am pleased that I brought my idea for a TV show to America first! It is people like you (whoever you are?) that inspires the many to get off their back-sides and do something with their lives. I really like your site and I think it is fantastic that you enable not just freedom of speech (positive or negative) but allow people to link to each other to share experiences and more importantly their inventions or ideas. I hope you enjoy the show and look forward to seeing all those many great ideas come alive.

A note from Doug Hall:
On Thursday night at 8:00 I am appearing as a Judge on ABC TV’s new program AMERICAN INVENTOR. The show is produced by Simon Cowell and the American Idol production team. It’s been a wild ride working on the show. It’s my job to play the role of Truth Teller - i.e. a more polite version of Simon.
It’s been a lot harder than I thought it would be. We’re not given nearly enough time to get the information needed to make an intelligent decision. As you’re watching - there are three things that I’m thinking about - three questions that will be very familiar to Eureka! Ranch clients and readers of my books.
1. Why should I care? (from a customers perspective)
• What is the invention? Is it dramatically different from what’s on the market?
2. What’s in it for me?
• Numerically, specifically what’s the Overt Benefit
3. Why should I believe you?
• Is there evidence that you will deliver on your Overt Benefit promise?
In the first four “audition” shows you won’t get to see much of the questions and answers as the segments are cut to seconds. However as the show goes on you’ll see these three questions coming to life more and more.
